McDonald’s Collaborates with Crocs for Iconic Merchandise

0

McDonald’s, the renowned fast-food chain, is taking its merchandise game to the next level. Teaming up with popular footwear brand Crocs, they are launching a comprehensive line of shoes, socks, and Jibbitz charms. These charms, designed to be attached to the rubbery clogs, are inspired by iconic McDonald’s characters such as Grimace, Hamburglar, and Birdie. Moreover, there will be a “Classic Clog” model available in the familiar McDonald’s red and yellow colors.

According to a press release from McDonald’s, the new Crocs and other merchandise pieces will be released on Tuesday. The shoes, complete with charming accessories, will be priced at $70-$75, while the socks will cost $20 per pair. Interested buyers can find these items on Crocs.com and at Crocs retail locations. However, they won’t be available at local McDonald’s restaurants.

This introduction of character-themed clogs comes after McDonald’s achieved massive success during the summer with its viral TikTok sensation, the purple Grimace Shake. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, this led to a 10.3% increase in McDonald’s U.S. same-store sales in the second quarter compared to the previous year.

In addition to the merchandise collaboration, McDonald’s is exploring the possibility of launching a CosMc spinoff restaurant based on another one of its beloved characters. This concept is expected to debut sometime in 2024, further capitalizing on the popularity of their character roster.

While McDonald’s is not the pioneer in restaurant chain or food brand collaborations or promotions, it joins the league of companies that have ventured into this territory. A few notable examples include a Lay’s potato chip-themed Balenciaga bag and Nike sneakers inspired by ice-cream maker Ben & Jerry’s.

Crocs, once criticized for their utilitarian design, have experienced a resurgence in popularity, particularly since the pandemic. They have even made their way onto the prestigious red carpet at the Oscars, sported by none other than Questlove. The brand has collaborated with various partners, and even fashion giant Balenciaga has transformed Crocs into a unique stiletto-like design.

With McDonald’s and Crocs coming together for this exciting collaboration, fans can look forward to stylish and whimsical footwear that pays homage to beloved McDonald’s characters. The launch of this merchandise collection is poised to be a hit among enthusiasts of both brands.
