U.S. futures for the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average both experienced a slight decline of 0.1%. However, it’s important to note that changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 remained flat during morning trading. Notably, MorphoSys saw a rise of 12.5% while Uniper climbed by 10%. On the flip side, THG dropped by 3% and NEL experienced a 2.8% decline. The FTSE 100 also lost 0.3%. Other European stocks had a mixed performance, with France’s CAC 40 gaining 0.1% and Germany’s DAX maintaining stability.
Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal Dollar Index showed a growth of 0.2% at 98.28.
Moving on to commodities, Brent crude oil rose by 0.7% to reach $76.38 per barrel, while WTI crude saw a similar increase of 0.7%, reaching $71.76 per barrel.
In terms of government bonds, the German 10-year Bund yield remained flat at 2.278%, while the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury increased by 3 basis points to 4.261% from 4.23%. It’s worth noting that bond prices and yields generally move in opposite directions.
In Asia, stock performances were mixed with Japan’s Nikkei 225 index climbing by 1.5%, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined by 0.8%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite experienced a growth of 0.7%.
