On February 19, 2025, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse announced on Twitter (X) that Brazil’s securities regulator has approved the country’s first XRP spot exchange-traded fund (ETF). At the same time, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) confirmed that it has acknowledged several XRP spot ETF applications, including from Bitwise, 21Shares, and Grayscale. The SEC has called for public comments on the filings within 21 days of their publication in the Federal Register, after which it will decide whether to approve, reject, or initiate further procedures.
