London-listed consulting and engineering company, John Wood Group, announced that it has achieved contract wins worth $850 million in the Middle East over the past 12 months. With a strong emphasis on expansion, the company has recently hired over 700 new employees across the region, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE. Looking ahead, they plan to recruit an additional 500 professionals in various roles throughout 2024.
Wood Group’s success can be attributed to its involvement in several groundbreaking projects in the area. Notably, they are contributing to the development of a CO2 transportation and storage network. Additionally, their expertise extends to conducting feasibility studies and preliminary front-end engineering design for carbon capture and storage, as well as low carbon hydrogen projects.
Furthermore, the company has secured a contract extension in Iraq with a long-term client. This extension allows Wood Group to continue delivering front-end engineering design, procurement, and EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contract-management solutions. In Qatar, they have also obtained a multi-million-dollar engineering and procurement services contract.
Chief Executive Ken Gilmartin expresses optimism about the Middle East region, describing it as a key strategic area for Wood Group’s growth and opportunities. With their extensive experience of over eight decades in supporting energy security in the region, they are dedicated to playing a vital role in its energy transition. Their vision involves designing a lower carbon, digitally enabled future.
