BERKELEY, Calif. – A tragic incident occurred last week at the UC Berkeley campus where 19-year-old Marco Troper, son of former YouTube CEO, was found unresponsive. Despite efforts from emergency responders, Troper was pronounced dead at the university’s Clark Kerr Campus.
Devastation and Grief
Marco’s grandmother, Esther Wojcicki, shared on Facebook that the family is completely devastated by this heartbreaking loss. Described as kind, loving, smart, and beautiful, Marco had just begun his sophomore year at UC Berkeley majoring in math and was thoroughly enjoying his studies.
A Life Cut Short
The cause of Marco’s untimely death is currently under investigation by the Alameda County coroner’s office. There are no indications of foul play, according to the university’s senior director of strategic communications, Janet Gilmore. The family is left mourning the missed opportunities and experiences that Marco will never get to enjoy.
Though further comments were not provided at this time by Esther Wojcicki, the tragedy has deeply impacted all those who knew Marco and his family.
